The Abundant life is a separated life or a sanctified life where I am set apart for salvation and service.
A. The Word of God has the power to separate believers from sin (Jn. 17:17, Ps. 119:11)
B. God the Father has the power to separate believers unto the “coming of our Lord” (1 Thess. 5:23)
C. God the Son has the power to separate believers unto righteousness “not having spot or wrinkle” (Eph. 5:24-27)
D. God the Holy Spirit has the power to separate believers unto salvation and service. (2 Thess. 2:13)
Without being separated, you can have a relationship with God, but you cannot have fellowship with Him. You may be united to Him in Calvary, but separated from Him in sin. Without separation you can have influence without power, movement without achievement; you may try, but not trust; serve but not succeed; war but not win. Without separation unto God from sin, your whole Christian life will be “wood, hay, stubble.” The abundant life is made possible by the death, burial, and resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and made reality by being separated unto Him.
Today’s insight 4/19/09
More than twenty five years ago God through His Word impressed upon my heart that I must be separated unto the gospel and at the same time separated from sin. By His amazing grace there is progressive sanctification that has taken place in my life. The Lord has brought me a long ways up out of the pit but there is still a long ways to go. He will get me there (Phil. 1:6) and then I will be “like Him” (Rom. 8:29-30). Though there are daily battles to separate myself from sin and at time failures (1 John. 1:9) by His grace victory is assured! PTL!
